BDR: Ethernet connection for the iPads
A BDR Licensee is requesting or querying about a wired (ethernet) connection to the iPads.
At the time of the roll-out, the following was advised to Licensees that requested an adaptor:
The transition from the ID scanning terminals to BDR Mobile Solution is designed for wireless communication. iPads do not natively support wired connections, and providing adaptors for each device presents logistical and compatibility challenges.
Given that these devices are used across various locations, with varying conditions and challenges, our approach has been to support Wi-Fi connectivity, which aligns with the mobile nature of the iPads. As such, we are unable to provide an ethernet adaptor with each device. Whilst third-party adaptors are available, they are not included in the standard Scantek BDR system setup. If a wired connection is necessary for the store's operations, a compatible adaptor may need to be sourced independently.
For reference
There are a handful of BDR venues which use an ethernet adapter for their iPads. Scantek is not responsible for these adaptors.
