Crown Casino Melbourne

Creating an easySetup zip file for AMTEK

See master list below

Parent in parent

Set gateway to a random number within the same subnet (Change the last number to something random of the UNIT)

Connecting to Crown via Webex.

  1. Step 1 - install the Cisco Webex client. It’s less buggy and easier to use than the web tool

  1. Godfrey will email an invite to join his meeting - right click on the big green “Join meeting” button and select “Copy link”

  1. Paste the link into Webex and click join

  1. When connected you will see the 3 virtual parents - Bis-Scantek-01, Bis-Scantek-02, Mp-Scantek-01. These are displayed as tabs. See diagram below for how the units are mapped to the parents:

  1. The staff will grant you control via Webex. To connect to a scanner unit select the respective parent (eg parent for E9649 is Bis-Scantek-02), and from the terminal ssh to the unit

ssh scantech@172.23.4.132

The passwords aren't all the same unfortunately, try the americafy password, if not then maybe dococtapus.

Network time

Crown units in TEAK are connected to their NTP server to synchronise time

Peer: MP-DC-12.internal.crownltd.com.au

To update settings

1. Ping NTP server, if no reply check nameserver

2. Update the NTP server in /etc/systemd/timesyncd.conf

NTP=address
Generic

3. reconfigure files sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

4. Follow the prompts for Australia->Melbourne

5. Reboot unit

6. Confirm

If the NTP server is changed in the future.

Using Godfrey's internal Windows laptop run the command

w32tm /query /peers
Generic

the address is Peer: address

If not using the NTP server, you can adjust the time with the commands:

sudo date -s ‚Äú01 APR 2000 12:34:56‚Äù

sudo hwclock -w --localtime

Logging Into deconstructed units

The staff must browse to the scanning interface from their computer and then scan a document on the physical scanner.

  1. On the computer, open Google Chrome

  2. In the URL bar, type in the unit’s IP address

  3. The login page will load

  4. Login

  5. The scanning interface will display

  6. Scan a document on the physical scanner

  7. The results will display on the webpage

E.g. E2225 from Crown Perth

The unit is made up of a i7 NUC, scanner & camera. When an ID is scanned, nothing displays on the screen. To view the scan result on the interface, remote into the unit via a browser.

I.e. on a computer that is on the same network as the unit, open Google Chrome, in the URL type in the unit’s IP address and login.

Scan a document and the results will display on the Google Chrome session.

Configuring Crown Units

Crown Melbourne units are on different networks to the gateway and LVH. You may have trouble configuring the if it’s network address does not match that of the way.

For example, you would like to configure a support unit with the IP of 172.24.2.118. However, the gateway, nameserver and LVH IPs are:

Parent IP- 172.16.12.185

Gateway IP - 172.21.2.1

Nameserver IP - 172.16.10.201

To configure the unit,

  1. Note down the faulty unit ID

  2. In the CRM, go  to Sites > Support Unit Load

  3. Enter the Problem Unit ID and the Support Unit ID. Then click Download Easy Setup

  4. Either transfer the file to the support unit via ssh/teamviewer or transfer it to a USB and plug the USB into the unit

  5. On the unit, type in easySetup and press Enter

    1. USB - select the option containing the easySetup file. E.g. 1

    2. Transfer - the file should be  in /home/scantech

sudo php /var/www/includes/tools/easySetup.php /home/scantech/easySe tup.zip

  1. When asked if it is the parent, type  n

Deconstructed Units

Made up of:

  • i7 NUC

  • 8G RAM

  • m.2 SSD

  • Combosmart scanner (not an L-scanner please) with the original plastic lid with the white paint, Mike knows the right one.

  • Power Cable for i7

  • Network cable

  • Connection cable NUC to scanner

  • Logitech Camera (Crown Perth only)

You may have to manually edit venueInfo.php to ensure that the unit has the correct IP, DB address and gateway. Crown Melbourne generally does not use the camera so set

useCamera = 0;

to stop camera error displaying and enable remote view

remoteView = 1;.

Confirm the below IPs with the Crown staff and edit venueInfo.php

IP =

DB (LVH) address =

Gateway =

Nameserver =

Subnet =

Faulty Units

Both the Perth and Melbourne Crown Casino's own their units.

Deconstructed units must be brought back to Scantek for repairs.

When the venue has a faulty IST;

  • check with Accounts whether this service is covered under their service fee
  • inform the site they may be charged for the call-out, repair and workshop fees (check with accounts)
  • Book a P2; note that the unit is to be repaired and returned to site
  • Once the job is completed; DO NOT UPDATE THE CRM
  • From within the ticket email Amtek to let us know once the faulty unit has been repaired
  • Once the unit is repaired; book a CP to re-install the original unit back on site and collect the support unit
  • Update the CRM accordingly
  • Execute scenario Waiting for Repair Report

Accounts will be made aware of all the charges related to the job and action accordingly from there.
