[Internal] Venue Entry Classic - iPad Configuration
Once the iPads have been allocated to a Venue in Hubspot and the Venue set up in the Portal, it's time to configure them in Jamf!
Note: If you do not have access to JAMF or ABM, liaise with your Team Lead/Manager or the Principal Projects Manager.
1. Stock Allocation
When a deal has been won, a notification will arrive in Freshservice from HubSpot. You must first gather and assign the devices to begin the soft setup process.

2. Enroll the Device - This should not be required mostly (Speak to management)
2.1. Enroll Device into Apple Business Manager (ABM)
Devices are first enrolled into Apple Business Manager and assigned to a Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform.
- Login to Apple Business Manager (refer to Customer Service Team Lead/Manager for a user account)
- From the menu on left hand side, select 'Devices' to display the list of devices enrolled into ABM.
- In the Search field, search for the serial number of the device taken from stock.
- If the device is not found, raise it with the Customer Service Team Lead/Manager.
- Select the device to display the device details.
- Select 'Edit MDM Server' at the top of the page to display the MDM Service Assignment dialog.
- Select the 'Assign' radio button,
- from the dropdown, select the MDM server required,
- select 'Continue'
- Device should now be enrolled into JAMF Pro - it may take a few minutes.
2.2. Enrolling a Device into JAMF Pro
JAMF is a device management platform for Apple devices. If you require access to JAMF Pro liaise with the Customer Service Team Lead/Manager. The iPads must be enrolled into JAMF Pro for customized setup when the device powers on. This is to prevent unauthorized accessed to the device and overriding the device by anyone outside of Scantek.
2.2.1. Pre-used Device
JAMF is a device management platform for Apple devices. If you require access to JAMF Pro liaise with the Customer Service Team Lead/Manager. The iPads must be enrolled into JAMF Pro for customized setup when the device powers on. This is to prevent unauthorized accessed to the device and overriding the device by anyone outside of Scantek.
2.2.1. Pre-used Device
- Check if the device is already enrolled in JAMF Pro
- Click on 'Devices' menu.
- Type the device serial number in the search field.
- Select 'Mobile Devices' from drop down, and
- Click 'Search'.
- If the device has not previously been enrolled, refer to 2.2. Brand New Device below.
- Check if the device has already been setup:
- Click on the device.
- In General,
- 'Enrollment Method' should be "Pre-stage enrollment: Scantek VE Nightlife Pre-stage Enrollment"
- 'Managed' should be "Managed".
- 'Supervised' should be "Yes".
2.2.2. Brand New Device
Enroll a brand-new iPad, straight out of its packaging.
- From the 'Devices' menu, select 'PreStageEnrollments' to display a list of available enrollment profiles.
- Select the Pre-Stage Enrollment Profile you are enrolling the devices in.
- At the top are Options and Scope: select 'Scope' to display list of devices.
- Click 'Edit' in the bottom right corner.
- In the Search field, search for the serial number of the device taken from stock.
- If you cannot locate the device it will need to be added in Apple Business Manager (ABM), refer to 2.1. Enroll Device into ABM.
- If the checkbox on left is unticked,
- Select 'Edit' in bottom right corner.
- Add the device to the Enrollment Profile by ticking the box.
- Select 'Save' in bottom right corner.
- If the checkbox is unticked, raise it with the Customer Service Team Lead/Manager
3. Setting up the iPad
3.1 Pre-used iPad
If the iPad has been used before, you will need to reset it. To do so, on the iPad:
- Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad,
- Select 'Erase all content and settings',
- Select 'Continue' > 'Erase'.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT erase the current data plan if there is one. Choose to keep it.
- If there isn't a current data plan, request an eSIM QR code from the Accounts department.
- Scan this code with the iPad during set up (at the internet setup screen).
- If the eSIM hasn't been activated, request activation from the Accounts team/your Team Lead.
3.2. Brand New iPad
- Retrieve SIM from CS Storage
- Scan the QR SIM code in Mobile Data section of settings
- Update the SIM number and IMEI number to the asset on Freshservice
- If the SIM needs to be activated within 48 hours inform team lead or accounts
- If general install add to pile (Ask team lead if unsure) and they will be activated every Monday
3.3. Configure and Setup the iPad
- Power on the iPad.
- ??Go through Apple device setup screens to download the Configuration Profile.
- ??Provision the device.
- Add IMEI and SIM number to Freshservice
- Change the department in JAMF
- Disable Bluetooth in JAMF
- Wait for the wall paper to change and the Venue Entry app to be downloaded
3.4. SIM card activation
- Write the venue name on a sticky note and stick to the front of the SIM card cardboard.
- (General) Place the sim in SIMs TO BE ACTIVATED box
- (If no Wi-Fi at venue) Send SIM number to Kym at Telstra (Clarify with accounts, team lead or PPM) and place in SIMs awaiting phone #
- Every week on Monday all sims in TO BE ACTIVATED will be sent to Telstra for activation then moved to awaiting phone #
- Once the phone number is received from Telstra update FS then archive SIM in the SIM storage box
